[INFO] The cruel history of JYJ – Looking Back the year since JYJ’s debut (1)

It’s been over an year since Jaejoong, Yuchun and Junsu had their new steps as ‘JYJ’.
As you all know, JYJ and the fans have endured such a difficult time and it is still an ongoing issue ever since then.
We hereby present this post as the evidence of the fact that JYJ is growing up in such obstacles, in the hope that we would soon greet the end of this tunnel with smile.

[NEWS] 111201 A New book That Teaches a ‘Lesson on JYJ’….“Prosper JYJ” Has Been Published

After the “TVXQ crisis” that has been causing a disruption similar to a nuclear blast in the Korean music industry for the past two years occurred, a book that looks into the foundations of this case has finally been written. This book, published by EnterPost and entitled Prosper JYJ (author Kim BumTae) is now for sale.

This book looks into the ‘faceless’ singers JYJ who ‘cannot perform on music shows even if their sales are number 1′ and makes sure that the issues facing them are squarely raised. The large agencies, entertainment organizations and broadcasters, including those who have been placed in the entertainment industry as merely shareholders used to make sure the corrupt system does not collapse, have created a cartel-like structure around artists like JYJ. This book includes information from various media blogs, such as EnterPost’s popular 3 month long series “JYJ walking back to the tent”.

The title expresses not only prosperity but also a sense of fun (興, fun, pleasure, joy). It showcases the entertaining nature in which the book was written as well as a wish for prosperity and joy for those it was written for. The books starts with the background of the event that sparked the “TVXQ crisis” on July 31st 2009 when three of the five members of TVXQ; Kim Jaejoong (Hero), Park Yoochun (Micky), and Kim Junsu (Xiah); applied for an injunction to suspend their exclusive contract with their agency, SM Entertainment. After the legal dispute with SM Entertainment, and the subsequent court rulings in favor of JYJ, the Korea Federation of Popular Culture and Art (KFPCA) sent letters to various broadcast stations and entertainment programs asking for them to intentionally stop any entrance of JYJ into their programs. This was the beginning of the irrational and obvious mistreatment of JYJ in both Korea and Japan.

The book talks specifically about the case of SM hiding the truth about [JYJ']s cosmetics business investment and using it as a source to blame for the lawsuit. Additionally the book also contains information about JYJ’s many feats—the release of their worldwide album, the entry into the Billboard charts, being the first Korean artists to hold successful solo concerts in Europe, and the outstanding musical as well as individual activities of each of the three members. Another strong point addressed is JYJ’s foreign power and how they brought the case of SM’s slave contract to light, causing a ripple among both domestic and foreign media. The book draws on various articles and cultural critics that were affected by the news and also takes a look into the hype of Hallyu.

Over the past few years the author has traveled to countries such as India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, and even Papua New Guinea in both urban and rural areas to see the local reaction to the “hot and popular” Hallyu trend.

He found that the response to Hallyu in Korea did not make sense because [people] were not allowed a healthy development of opinions that could only be caused by being exposed to criticisms and suggestions about Hallyu. In particular he talks about “the media’s arbitrary powers to exercise complete control over the information on Hallyu. The media bias clearly reveals influence from large governmental agencies or entertainment companies to maintain a certain image of The Republic of Korea’s cultural industry. Because of this the Hallyu wave is becoming more of a “distorted wave” and the current of false information hinders the public’s ability to see”. The book also discusses the “loyal gratitude” that idols must have. The author says “The companies use loyalty and gratitude as excuses to deny their stars of their rights and work them until they bleed”. These points in the book have sparked heated reactions from readers since the book’s first publication.

Readers who have read the book said “though this information for many people is new, it should not only be kept locally but should also be spread abroad”

They say that translations and publications to reach overseas fans in China, Japan, and Thailand were necessary.

The company is looking into and planning publications in Japan because of local curiosity about the investigations behind the practices restricting JYJ. “Prosper JYJ” is also republishing in Korea because of hot reactions from readers.

With readers of this book becoming more aware of the unfair and unreasonable situation surrounded JYJ, it is hoped that the entertainment industry will improve its structure. The author has said that a portion of revenues from this book will be donated to the World Vision Global Fund which aids over 100 countries worldwide with relief and development.

(T/N: This book was at the top of Interpark’s recommendation list on the first day that it was released. It is also currently sold out in Korea, which is why they are reprinting.)

[NEWS] 111202 Lee Yong, “‘Forgotten season’ of Kim Jaejoong and Seo Youngeun are the best cover versions of original song”

Singer Lee Young praised juniors Kim Jaejoong and Seo Youngeun.
In SBS Good Morning show aired Dec 2nd morning, Lee Yong said, “‘Forgotten season’, the song that gave me Music Award, is unforgettable song for me.”
He added, “From 30 years ago, many juniors have been continuing to remake that song, about 50 people. You can see many well-singing singers challenge it but it’s really hard to sing.” And he praised, “Kim Jaejoong and Seo Youngeun have very well remade the original song. Because they gave it right feelings, they sang it well.”  “I don’t know how they could sing with that feeling. I think they sang it better than me.”

The Meaning Behind JYJ's "Itsudatte Kimi ni"

Up to that time, I only watched Tohohoshinki’s performance on TV. Of course I was aware of their popularity and wanted to work with them, but working with them is something unbelievable even to imagine. Since “Itsudatte Kimi ni” is the opening song for the live and it contains deep meaning, I thought that the first word of this song should share the same feelings with their fans. Although it is a love song that tells a story between two people, the song also sends an important message to drive away the worries of their fans who were upsetting due to the various rumors and reports.

When JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN stepped on stage, the lighting shined on them and the venue was filled with their voices, I was touched by the cheering of their fans. By the way, many people asked me about a verse in the lyrics that says, “samishisa mo kotaetayo” (I also answered to your loneliness). The truth is that when they sang it the live, it was supposed to be “samishisa mo kotaetayo (different spelling)” (I also endured the loneliness). It was interesting that when the song was sung to the fans at Tokyo Dome, considering their facial expressions and circumstances, it is more appropriate to use “answered” than “endured” in regard to the “I” and the “you” and the “loneliness”. There are “loneliness” and “love” in this song, but as “love” grows, the “loneliness” also increases. What is the answer to this “loneliness” that we can’t escape? We can also interpret this situation as, when one’s heart is in a tremor (in this case, when one is in love), what kind of answer will come? It’s a little hard to express the song, and that’s why the meaning of it becomes even deeper. The words are alive. These are things that I did not expect when I wrote this song. You can say that the “you” in this song is the representative of all the fans out there.

The Meaning Behind JYJ's "W"

Shinjiroh Inoue’s Blog, “keep in mind that i love you”

JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN’s “W”

About the right way to pronounce it… while I was still considering between “Daburu” and “Daburyuu”, at the rehearsal for Dome Jejung said, “That should be Daburyuu shouldn’t it!” so we decided on “Daburyuu” (LOL).

After Tohoshinki’s activities were suspended, when the announcement of the trio’s “THANKSGIVING LIVE IN DOME” was announced, I received a request to write the lyrics for songs that they can sing at Dome.
At that time, I was entrusted with writing about the real feeling of the trio.
I’m sorry but I can’t write the details about it here.
From now on, I’m going to write about my own feeling… but I could really feel that the trio are sincerely wishing to work as 5 again.
I believe that it is also the wish of the duo and of course, the fans.

I was wondering how I should convey that wish and feeling into a message to fans, thus I created a wrote something called “If you have a message to HoMin, would you tell me your message?” on Twitter and Ameba.
I remember that at that time, I didn’t have that many followers on Ameba, but thanks to everyone who spread it on the Internet, I received a lot of messages.
No, I was entrusted with them.

Among the messages, there are messages that are written in all hiragana so that the duo would be able to read them… I feel very apologetic because I can’t directly deliver the messages to them…
A great number of messages contain the words “We’re waiting for the day you will come back” and “We’re protecting a place for you to come back to”.
When the song was sung at Dome, went on the download chart, and was uploaded everywhere… I received a lot of messages on what the true meaning of the song is.
Among them, there are bitter comments such as “The trio already left, isn’t it funny to say that they’re still waiting?”

Since I wrote that song with the intention of conveying the true feelings of the trio and not my own, thinking of the trio, I’ve been keeping my silence to those comments even though I’m usually a talkative person.
I also made sure that I did not write about anything that is over-sensitive….
However, since they don’t have any promotion for “The…” and “THANKSGIVING LIVE IN DOME” this time and I didn’t receive any word from the trio thus I decided to gather my courage and write this.

W” is the symbol of 5 and belong to 5.
Waiting” is about the day that the 5 of them will work together again.
Protecting” is the power of the fans.

Those are the feelings of mine, someone who was entrusted with the words from the messages of the trio and the fans.
